ETS®
ETS® is the acronym of "Engineering Tool Software", the manufacturer-independent software developed to project and commission home and building automation systems based on KNX and configure the KNX devices. ETS® is a standardised tool currently available in its 5th release (Ets5) and in 15 languages.
ETS® is a registered mark by KNX Association cvba, Diegem (Belgium). The license can be bought at the Online Shop of KNX Association.
Product database
In order to add the Ekinex® devices to your projects of KNX installations it is necessary to download the Ekinex® product database, to save it and then import it in ETS®. The product database is a file with .knxprod extension that contains all the application programmes that allow you to configure and commission Ekinex® devices with ETS®.

The import in ETS® of the Ekinex product database will be performed with the dedicated function "Import products" available in the main page.
Application programs
As alternative to the download of the whole ekinex product database, you can selectively download single application programs (.knxprod files, ETS4 or later release necessary).
Apps for ETS®
The apps are a useful integration of the standard functions offered by smart phones and tablets. One of the latest developments in the KNX world is represented by the “ETS® APPS”. The apps are developed by KNX members thanks to the provided API, which already includes many basic functions. This allows nearly unlimited creative ideas. The compatibility of the entire system is maintained as all apps have to be validated by the KNX Association and are available exclusively at the KNX online shop.

ETS® Inside
ETS® inside is a KNX’s software which enable the total customisation of domotic’s technology in your household. From the lighting to the heating and air conditioning system, from the blinds management to security control.
ETS® Inside it’s been designed to facilitate the access and the configuration of KNX basic system also by designers and installers who doesn’t fully know the professional version of the ETS® software.
For which type of KNX system is appropriate to use ETS® Inside?
Due to its simplicity ETS® Inside is recommended for KNX’s installation of small and medium size hence for residential and commercial installation such as for apartments, houses and shops which do not require a high number of devices and are not complicated.
Which advantages has ETS® Inside?
ETS® Inside offers the best of two worlds: the security and stability of the industrial’s KNX standard paired to an intuitive user interface which enable the use of homogeneous system for domotic.
For the KNX partners the benefit consists in having one application to configure, in an intuitive way, the most important characteristic of the ETS® Professional, on small and medium size installation, without the ETS® Professional’s licence.
The benefit of ETS® Inside, for the end client, is that it offers a customised experience thanks to its user friendly interface which is as well intuitive and has low management costs.
The system integrator is now able to easily delegate part of the installation to the end client.
Which are the differences between ETS® Inside and ETS® Professional?
ETS® Professional (desktop) is intended for KNX experienced users or for who is entering a KNX certified training. ETS® Professional includes the whole range of functions in order to configure and programme every KNX device.
ETS® Inside version is able to manage configurations and downloads of devices for less complicated installation (no plug-in or complicated gateway functions). Moreover the new ETS® Inside enables the configuration of KNX installation directly from the smartphone or tablet.
