Caleffi Head Offices, Portugal

Application Context

The intervention was based on the complete renovation of the Portuguese headquarters of CALEFFI, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its direct presence in the country.

Sustainability, future and technology were the 3 pillars on which the refurbishment of the building, which succeeded in obtaining NZEB certification, was designed.
On the outside, a more industrial aesthetic was sought, integrated into the surroundings through the combination of glass and aluminium.

The main building has an impactful yet diluted presence in the landscape, the result of the horizontality of the architectural elements themselves and the interplay of solids and voids that give lightness and balance.
Inside, the aim was to create a comfortable, dynamic and flexible environment. It was therefore decided to use a modular system of wooden partitions which, combined with glass, allow the creation of spaces that are independent but visually permeable to each other and to the outside.

The building unit is distributed on two levels, connected by internal stairs, and the intervention also included the complete transformation of the entire office area
and the creation of a Tech Multiroom for training, events, meetings and other marketing events.

Client's Requirements

The main challenge was to carefully study an interior layout that took into account the current requirements. All materials were carefully designed to meet the aesthetic and functional needs and requirements of a space of this type, while at the same time ensuring harmony with the assumptions and standards of the strategic MADE IN CALEFFI pilars.

All installations had to have centralised control based on KNX protocol and be connected to the BMS master system.

Required functionalities

  • Light control / Dimming - Work and social area
The LED lights throughout the building and the motorised electric blinds must be able to be operated by buttons programmed for a position from 0 to 100%. independently.
For internal stairways and corridors, lights must be automatic with time control.
  • HVAC
The reversible heat pump system with primary and secondary circuit with 2-pipe fan coil must be able to be controlled by a centralised and remotely accessible supervision system. The local digital thermostats must be able to operate manually and automatically in communication with the BMS system.
  • Restricted areas shall be equipped with a card reader for opening doors, which can be customised to grant access to each selected room, according to the defined access level (for meeting rooms) or according to the time allowed for this space (such as social areas).
